Hey, I'm Wayne
Photographer, pilot, and permanent student of Territory light.
I work with families, couples, businesses, and event teams who want photography that feels honest, not performed for a camera.
I'm Wayne Maggs. I've been based in Darwin for over 5 years, with a BA (Hons) Degree in Photography from Plymouth University, England. I shoot everything from backyard family sessions to multi-day conferences and remote aerial jobs across the Top End.
Before I pick up a camera, I want to understand what you're trying to capture, and what you'll actually do with the images afterward. That shapes how I shoot, how I edit, and what I deliver.
My work sits at the documentary end of the spectrum: natural light, real environments, and moments that happened rather than moments we manufactured. Whether it's your wedding, your team, or your property from 120 metres up, I'm looking for what's genuinely there.
How I work
Three things every job has in common.
Natural light
The Territory does most of the work. Dry-season gold, wet-season drama, coastal haze. I read what's available and build the shoot around it, not against it.
Delivered to be used
Galleries formatted for print, web, and social. Files cleared for your channels. Turnaround scoped to your deadline, because photos in a folder nobody opens aren't worth taking.

Five years in the Top End
Mindil at sunset. Kakadu in wet season. Remote coastal camps and CBD boardrooms. I've shot across the Territory long enough to know the light, the seasons, and how to adapt when Plan A turns into Plan B.

Prepared, not prescriptive
Every job starts with a conversation, what's the brief, what matters, where will the images live? I plan locations, timing, and logistics so you don't have to think about photography on the day. But I don't run your wedding or stop your event for a shot list. I notice what's happening.
